Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award’s logo Unveiled

At a glittering Logo Unveiling and Media Briefing ceremony at the National Sports Council auditorium on Monday (October 19th), State Minister for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, has unveiled the logo of Shekha Hasina Youth Volunteer Award 2020.

Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh will recognize the Indomitable Spirit shown by the Young Volunteers in Bangladesh and across the Globe in response to the COVID-19 pandemic by introducing “Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award 2020” under the “Virtual Global Voluntary Forum” programme, one of the mega events of the Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020.

Speaking as the Chief Guest in the programme which started with the recitation from the Holy Quran, Mr. Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, said, “The year 2020 is especially important for us as this year we are celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of our nation, the greatest Bengali of all time. The immense courage that Bangabandhu has shown in any movement still serves as an inspiration for the youth in every sphere of life.”

At the same time, he highlighted the various activities undertaken by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the development of the youth of the country under the direction of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He said the project has been proposed for the purpose of self-employment and employment of 12 lakh 5 thousand youths in 5 years through taking up activities. In addition, e-commerce platforms like Jubo Paikarisale.com, Youth Branding, etc. will provide training to around 320,000 youth in various categories as well as create employment and self-employment opportunities for over 3 lakh people and more than 50 lakh farmers and youth entrepreneurs will directly be benefited from these projects.

Mr. Masud Bin Momen, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was present as the special guest on the occasion, in his speech he said, it is the happiest thing that the award is given in the Name of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who herself embody the bigger of youthful soul and the river of wisdom statecraft, lifting Bangladesh out of a vicious circle of endemic poverty and only to ten years of her work as prime minister. He also said that Bengali civilization is based on the principle of humanity, human values and the timeless truth and philosophy couple with the set of Islamic cultural heritage.

Mr. Taha Ayhan, President, Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) has virtually joined the event as Guest of Honor.  In his speech he said that, “Bangladesh has become one of the most remarkable success stories in recent years. Today, we have gathered here to introduce the ‘Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award 2020’ under one of the major events of Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020, the Virtual Global Voluntary Forum, to recognize all those youths who have been the first responders to COVID-19 crisis situation in almost everywhere of the world.”

Mr. Md. Akhter Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth & Sports, has delivered welcome speech to the guests. In his speech he said, the youth are often labelled as the future. But during the crisis situation of the COVID-19 pandemic we have seen that this youth is not only the future but also the present.”

He further said that Bangladesh currently has a youth population of more than 53 million who constitute more than one-third of the total population of the country and all the important goals set by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina such as becoming a developing country by 2024, achieving sustainable development goals by 2030 and Vision-2041; This youth is the main force in achieving these goals. In his speech, he highlighted the various activities undertaken by the Ministry in creating employment and self-employment for the youth.

10 categories of awards were announced at the media briefing and logo unveiling ceremony in the presence of the country’s top media personnel. The Categories are as follows:

  • Corporate Support in Voluntary Youth Activities
  • Most Impactful Media Personnel
  • Community Leadership and Service
  • Environmental Response
  • Act of Bravery
  • Service Excellence
  • Outstanding Youth Voluntary Organization

 

From November 1, 2020, interested parties will be able to register for the contest and learn more about the contest by visiting the website https://www.youthpowerhouse.org/shyva. Registration will continue till December 31, 2020.

In addition to the awards and certificates, the winners from the national stage will get the opportunity to participate in the International Stage of ‘Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award 2020’.
